Talk about bad broadcasting

I was watching WJHL Channel 11 Sports tonight because it came on before WCYB. They had some highlights of SWVA games, but the scores were just totally out in left field. They had Kelly winning 52-13, Lebanon winning 14-13, and Rural Retreat scoring 13 points against Floyd (when I know I had heard WAXM give the score saying RR hadn't scored in two weeks.) I thought where in the world did they get these scores?

A few minutes later I happened to be looking through today's BHC, reading the predictions, and lo and behold, the predictions in the BHC were the exact same scores that WJHL was reporting as final scores on tonight's contests.

I don't think I'll be watching WJHL sports again.

Wow, that's just sad. thumbs down

I wonder what it would be like if they made that same mistake and reported a losing team as winners? What a bunch of goons.

Wow, I think PassMan could do a better job than WJHL.

Anyone could do a better job by simply grabbing the final scores on this forum. That would be better than throwing in newspaper "prediction" scores and touting them as true 'final scores' to folks all over the area.

Also, I saw the predictions from the reporters at K-sport Times.....once predicted Haysi over Clintwood. Does this guy ever watch football?

    DON'T BLAME WJHL!!!!

I don't know who pulled the stunt, but someone called the AP and gave them bogus scores. JHL just read the scores from the AP, like most everyone else does.

    http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/news/v...8-29-0132.html

a later update had most of the SW VA scores removed

    http://www.inrich.com/cva/ric/news/v...8-29-0161.html

AXM had most of the scores right thanks to our little long-running deal AND a bit of luck. Pam (I am SO glad she's back) am I started trading scores YEARS ago. Last night, she gave me a score - she said she got it from JHL, who got it off the wire. I said "You know, I haven't even checked the wire yet, since my post-game show is still going". So, I checked the wire and found some bogus scores. I told her which ones were wrong from up this way and we noted another score or 2 that was questionable. She got a couple of corrections later by phone, but we still ended up with 1 or 2 bad ones.

I called the AP, but my number was for the news desk, which was already shut down for the weekend, and it was forwarded to Atlanta. The guy there didn't have a sports number for Richmond, so I couldn't get corrections made before the 11:00 news.

BTW, here's the last run, which seems to be a lot better looking
